Call Me Al

My MozBlog

Rule number 1: write entries in notepad first. There's less liklihood of blowing it away as you move from tab to tab.

I'm getting tired of a lot of the newbies. Too many of them ask stupid questions. Ok, so the newbies are in the minority lately. But when they're annoying, it just pisses me off. CJ is getting very annoyed with the forums too. I'm not surprised. Between the rambling Names thread, to the bickering of Options panel and the personal attacks, it just gets tiring. I'm going to try to get it from an average 24 posts a day down to 20. I'm ignoring most threads now, so it should be better.

I'm really annoyed that the Toolbar Customization Bug hasn't been fixed. I hope Ben isn't really waiting for Hyatt to take a look at it. Hyatt will be neck-deep in Safari for quite a while. This is the major bug preventing me from upgrading past 20030125. Not that I have any problems with my current build. The main thing that I don't like about the Feb builds is the redesigned Options panel.

While I understand the goals of the rearranging of items, I think the loss of Advanced is ticking off all of the power users. Sure, there's QuickPrefs and Preferential, but they don't give as pretty a face to the advanced but common options. Even worse is that some extensions are no longer easily configurable, since the locations of things have changed. Piro wrote in an e-mail "I'll use this feature when this is available in new milestone builds, 0.6 or later." Phoenix 0.6 still seems quite a ways off, with most of the bugs targetted being unresolved.

I've redesigned my website, including the new Phoenix button on the left of the blog. Instead of absolutely postioned buttons, it's actually an unordered list. And if you're reading this in a Mozilla-based browser, you'll see the cool pop-up menus I learned from CSS/Edge. Mozblog surfing can lead to interesting stuff. I've also been helping in the design of cdn.mozdev and Phoenix Help, as well as the Px-Classic and Pinball themes.

I'll have to remember to write about Opera at some point.
