Call Me Al

My MozBlog

Whether your music collection is legal or not, you probably don't have a good way of organizing it. ID3 tags limit you to one artist, one genre. But what if you want to hear some rock music, but only one you haven't listened to in a while. Instead of browsing through your collection, what if you could just pick from a collection of form fields and then have the music play? What I'm talking about is a relatively simple application with a database backend. Hell, I could probably build it using Microsoft Access. But that wouldn't be very cross platform, nor would it be useful for web radio. So how about some XUL? I'm not proposing I write this thing, but I would definitely pay money for it.

I'm not saying it has to run inside of a web browser, but that's probably a good place to start. The genres listed in Winamp should be in a lookup table, but I should be able to exclude genres that I don't have. The media player itself should just be the system default.

I've never used iTunes, so I can't speak for it. Is iTunes XUL?
Bah!
