8/16/2004 10:43:00 AM - Inexpensive PCs
AMD and Intel keep competing to make CPUs faster and faster. While I think that the competition is great, it feels like something is being left behind. There are plenty of people who could use a more-affordable PC. Why use a 3 GHz box when a 500 MHz would suffice? I would like to know why they can't take all of that know-how and pop out slower chips that are cheaper. I'm not talking about Speak-and-Spell level. Microsoft thinks that limiting a computer to 3 simultaneous programs is a good idea. I really hope that doesn't include anti-virus and firewall.
