9/02/2005 07:52:00 AM - From milestone to nightly
I've updated the last of my machines to a Deer Park nightly. My biggest dissappointment is that only one extension survived, Mr. Tech's XPI Install Delay. Here is what I did to get the rest of my extensions working again.
If I didn't already have the above extension, I'd get it. When you do a lot of extension installing, it makes life much more bearable. The next step was to re-download all of my extensions. The search box on Mozilla Update made that easier. I opened each xpi file with WinRAR (any zip program will work) and edited the install.rdf. I chose to replace the em:maxVersion with 3.5 just so that I don't have to fight with any future updates. All I had to do after that was drag and drop all of the extensions onto Firefox. They all installed and then I restarted my browser.
One of them didn't work! I wound up with a big bar across the bottom of my browser showing a chrome error. It was for the image zoom extension. I disabled it and restarted my browser. Hurray!
Now you're probably wondering why I even had to do all of this. UMO does not support anything past "1.0+". Hopefully a lot of extensions still work without changes, but they need to be tested, too.
I'm stuck with the default theme. Enough has changed in themes that my favorite theme, Pinball, is incompatible. Since I'm the theme maintainer, I guess I will have to blame myself.
It seems the "Removed by Admin" are counted in the rating
