Call Me Al

My MozBlog

To quote jwz: Dear Lazyweb...

I run Firefox trunk nightly and have generally been happy with it. Occasionally someone checks in something really bad and so my browser experience sucks. But for the most part, its fine. Here are the issues I've been experiencing.

  • When using the automatically configured proxy, gmail crashes firefox. Using the manual proxy seems to avoid this issue.
  • When using java at Yahoo's Pool site, sometimes the browser will completely close itself, not even launching Talkback.
  • When Talkback does run, it doesn't seem to be storing the Talkback IDs on my system. Running Talkback.exe lists nothing so its hard to follow up on the issues.

It seems that no one in the UMO core has time to work on it any more. UMO 2.0 stalled in mid-August. Morgamic seems have been pulled away for AUS and other things. Of course that's a higher priority. I know I've been swamped at work lately. Unfortunately, patches to UMO 1.0 that have R+ don't seem to land either.

I agree with you, but the turn-around on the major problems seems pretty quick. Granted, the three days without the bookmark toolbar was rough. And the break to AdBlock was also tough... Yet, we do it for Mozilla, right? ;-)
Check The Burning Edge at http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/ before you do the upgrade, then at least you'll know about the most serious bugs.
Well that sucks, UMO really does need some improvment as Mozilla heads forward as a whole. Here is hoping that *someone* get some work done over it.
Yahoo's Pool site has way too many people who are either immature are just plain not nice. I prefer Pogo's, which also give you those cute token for entering sweepstakes.
