Call Me Al

My MozBlog

Now that the roadmap has changed, it seems as though a lot more people have started visiting the Phoenix forums. Unfortunately, that means answering a lot of the same questions again. No one was following my "Read this before posting!" sig, so now it just says "So tired of repeating myself". I'm down to an average 18.75 posts per day and David Tenser has finally passed Flii to take second place (still 1000 posts behind me).

Not only are people asking for things covered by extensions and discussed heavily in the forums, but some are requesting new features. Which makes me wonder: what is the point of adding new features if Phoenix will be rejoining the trunk in a few months? Not that it matters, since they're not even bugfixing any more.

The rumor was that the name would be announced last week and that developers would come running back. If that's what they're waiting for, then I have misjudged their character. The move to make Phoenix into the Mozilla Browser should have breathed a lot more life into the project than a mere name change would have.

So Phoenix is still floating along without direction, without a milestone, and with users wondering when things will actually start to happen.
