Call Me Al

My MozBlog

At some point this blog was configured so that I could have it post via ftp to another site. Well, it also lets me post to blogspot via ftp. A thought occurred to me: why have a separate domain name for my RSS feed, when I can have it posted as a separate index to my regular blog. Not only that, but since I can change the file name, I was able to make it index.xml so it gets served with the right MIME-type. And if you haven't gotten the gist of this entry, then let me be clearer. My RSS feed has moved.

I have just returned from a long vacation. My room was equipped with a cable modem, so I didn't get too far behind on my email. Most of the bugmail recently has been requests for adding or updating extensions. The process gets to be very tiresome, so I want to have as much information automatically detected as possible. I'd like to get the manual process down to "select the file, upload it, verify." Some people don't think that UMO should support Mozilla 1.x. My biggest problem is that I don't have Thunderbird or Mozilla 1.x, so I can't test things. I always forget to check to see if an extension also supports Mozilla 1.x. There's an easy way to get past that: have a Mozilla 1.x section in install.rdf. Have an extension that's only for 1.x? Then include an install.rdf simply for the purposes of UMO. Why? Because that would make UMO able to automatically process it.

Mozilla will be moveing to toolkit anyways, so it will then support install.rdf :)
