Not everyone is running Firebird on a Pentium 2, so some people have sought out optimized builds. The real quesion is whether the optimization really makes a difference. Answers are anecdotal at best. There is, however, a way to measure startup. Rendering performance can be measured, but I'm not sure how. I think Tinderbox does it.
